  • Product description

Kapok is a small tree belonging to the genus Kapok in the malvaceae family. Its scientific name is Ceiba speciosa, a native plant of South America. Nykapok is widely distributed in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. They grow in tropical and subtropical regions and prefer sunny, warm and humid conditions.

Nycima trees can grow up to 30 meters tall with a broad crown. Its trunk is thick, with needle-like wooden protrusions, giving it a golden appearance. Its leaves are palm-shaped and consist of five to seven long, pointed leaves. In summer, Kapok produces large, gorgeous flowers that can reach 15-20 cm in diameter. The flowers appear bright red or pink, and sometimes white or yellow variants. The flowers are beautiful and have a pleasant fragrance.

The fruit of Kapok is not readily available on the horticultural market as it takes up to 10 years to produce fruit. The mature fruit is a woody capsule about 15-20 cm long. The capsule contains many small seeds, and the surface of the seeds is covered with hairs, which can be blown away by the wind. These seeds are the way for Kapok to reproduce.

Kapok is widely used in many South American regions. Kapok wood is hard and corrosion-resistant, making it ideal for furniture and building materials. Kapok fiber is also used to make rope, fiberboard and paper. The flowers of Kapok can also be used to make medicines that can be used to treat symptoms such as colds and fever. The Nycima tree is also considered a sacred tree by some Native Americans, who believe that the needle-shaped shape of the trunk symbolizes the eyes of the gods, so the trunk has a protective effect. In the Amazon region of Peru, Nykapok fibers are also used to make traditional clothing and decorations.

In addition to its practical value, Kapok plays an important role in the ecosystem. Its dense canopy can provide a habitat for wildlife, attracting many birds, insects and small mammals. The flowers of Kapok are a food source for many birds and insects, which can obtain sufficient energy and nutrients from these flowers. At the same time, the roots of the tree can also help prevent soil erosion and maintain the stability of the environment.

Kapok is a beautiful and important plant, which not only has good ornamental value, but also has a wide range of uses. We should pay attention to the protection and research of Kapok, protect this precious plant resources, and promote the harmonious development of man and nature.
